Maintenance Officer – Aged Care GLAICA Ltd

Tuncurry NSW Permanent Part‑Time (75 hours per fortnight)

 

Keep our residents safe, comfortable, and supported by maintaining high‑quality environments across our aged care homes and retirement villages

 

About the Role

GLAICA Ltd is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Officer to support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our Residential Aged Care Homes and other GLAICA retirement living sites.

 This role suits someone who enjoys hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and ensuring facilities are well‑maintained for residents, staff, and visitors. You will take pride in our environment

 

What You’ll Do

The role provides essential support to the smooth running of our homes, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

  • Complete general maintenance tasks including repairs, minor carpentry, painting, and equipment upkeep.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and maintain asset life.

  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and customer‑focused manner.

  • Maintain grounds, gardens, and outdoor areas to a high standard.

  • Support contractors on‑site and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining and repairing equipment used in the facility. Or outsourcing to external suppliers.

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Work Health & Safety (WHS) and aged care compliance requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits and accreditation.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and safe‑work practices across the organisation.

 

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance, trades, or facilities management.

  • Strong practical skills across general repairs, groundskeeping, and equipment maintenance.

  • Understanding of WHS requirements and safe‑work practices.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and manage competing demands.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic computer skills for logging tasks and completing documentation.

  • Current Driver Licence.

 

Desirable

  • Trade qualification (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting).

  • Experience in residential aged care, health, or similar regulated environments.

  • Knowledge of asset management systems or maintenance software.

  • Experience supporting compliance, audits, or essential services testing.
