About the role

CNC Unique Pty Ltd is seeking a 1st Year Apprentice Machinist to join our team on a full-time basis at our facility in Hexham, NSW. This is an excellent opportunity to begin your career in the skilled trades, working with modern machining equipment and learning from experienced professionals. As a 1st Year Apprentice, you will be gaining foundational knowledge and practical skills in precision machining, developing the technical expertise needed to become a highly skilled machinist within our industry.

What you'll be doing

  1. Operating and assisting with CNC machine setup under supervision

  2. Learning to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  3. Measuring and inspecting work to ensure it meets quality standards

  4. Assisting experienced machinists with the fabrication and modification of machine parts

  5. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in accordance with workplace health and safety guidelines

  6. Learning proper tool handling, maintenance and storage procedures

  7. Attending scheduled apprenticeship training courses and completing relevant coursework

  8. Documenting work activities and recording measurements accurately

  9. Developing knowledge of various materials, cutting tools and machining techniques

  10. Following all company procedures and safety protocols at all times


What we're looking for

  1. Recent school leaver or early-career individual keen to develop a skilled trade

  2. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

  3. Basic numeracy and literacy skills to support technical learning

  4. A genuine interest in machining and precision engineering

  5. Ability to follow instructions and learn from feedback

  6. Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions

  7. Physical fitness and capability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods

  8. Reliability and punctuality

  9. A positive attitude towards health and safety in the workplace

  10. Current driver's licence is preferred

  11. No prior experience necessary – we will provide full training

  12. Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with full working rights
