As a family-owned business with scale, capability and ambition, Daracon offers leaders the opportunity to make a genuine impact — shaping operations, people and standards in a supportive well-resourced environment.

We are seeking a high-calibre Operations Superintendent to provide leadership across our Contract Crushing and Stemming operations, supporting major mining and quarry clients across multiple sites in the Hunter Valley and Gunnedah Basin.

This role is suited to an experienced operational leader with a background in mining, quarrying or contract services, who has operated at a Superintendent or Operations Manager level and is known for maintaining standards, developing people and driving disciplined execution.

About the Role

Reporting to the Crushing and Stemming Services Business Manager, the Operations Superintendent will have responsibility for the performance of the crushing and stemming operations including safety, production, maintenance, cost control, client relationships and leadership capability. This is a hands-on leadership role, balancing site presence with strategic oversight.

You will work closely with the management team to:

  • Set clear operational expectations and performance standards

  • Coach and mentor members of your operational team

  • Strengthen systems, discipline and accountability

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Key responsibilities include:

  •  Provide visible, values-led leadership across all crushing and stemming operations

  • Lead safety, environmental and compliance performance in line with Daracon and client expectations

  • Act as an operational interface with major mining houses and quarry clients

  • Drive consistency in operating standards, maintenance practices and cost control

  • Oversee operational and financial performance, including:

    • Maintenance cost reporting and control

    • Productivity and utilisation metrics

    • Continuous improvement initiatives

  • Develop, coach and mentor team members to build depth and succession

  • Support workforce planning, training and capability uplift

  • Provide coverage for the Crushing and Stemming Services Business Manager during leave periods where required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a respected operational leader who brings clarity and high standards to your teams.

You will demonstrate:

  • Significant management experience in mining, quarrying and/or contract crushing with proven hands-on experience at all levels

  • Proven experience working with Tier 1 / major mining house clients

  • Strong leadership capability with a track record of coaching and developing team members

  • Deep understanding of safety, compliance and operational risk in mining/quarry environments

  • Strong communication skills and a calm, decisive leadership style

  • Proven capability in designing operational frameworks and training materials

  • Proven background in mobile crushing operations with an emphasis on value added product delivery

Why Join Daracon?

  • Long‑term, stable position within a respected NSW contractor

  • Opportunity to shape future leaders

  • Supportive management team with appetite for improvement and growth
