Selection Criteria – Marketing Manager

Applicants should address the following selection criteria in their application:

  1. Marketing and Communications Experience
    Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and delivering marketing, promotional, or communications activities across digital and/or traditional channels.

  2. Social Media and Content Management
    Experience developing, coordinating, or overseeing social media content, including content planning, scheduling, audience engagement, and maintaining brand consistency across multiple platforms.

  3. Event Planning and Coordination
    Demonstrated ability to assist with the planning, organisation, promotion, and execution of events, including coordinating stakeholders, managing timelines, and ensuring successful delivery.

  4. Community Engagement and Relationship Building
    Proven ability to build positive relationships with customers, staff, community groups, sponsors, influencers, and external partners, creating engaging and inclusive community experiences.

  5. Organisation and Project Management Skills
    Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise competing tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  6. Communication and Stakeholder Management
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, promotional materials, event documentation, and communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

  7. Analytical and Continuous Improvement Capability
    Ability to monitor performance metrics, analyse results, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement data-informed recommendations to improve marketing and community outcomes.

  8. Alignment with Pulse Climbing’s Values and Culture
    Demonstrated commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and community-focused environment, with a genuine enthusiasm for helping grow participation and engagement within the climbing community.


Role Description: Marketing Manager

Estimated hours: 12 -17 hours per week

Role Type: Casual

Remuneration: Fitness Industry Award - Casual - Instructor/Trainer/Student Lvl 2-5- 1-July-2025


Part A: Marketing and Promotions Coordinator

Est. hours per week: 6 -8.


 You will be responsible for maintaining Pulse’s calendar of events and promotions, liaising with the Social Creators and management team, and ensuring that print and digital marketing materials are made available when needed. 

Key Responsibilities: 


  1. Assist with and delegate the role of capturing event highlights through photography and videography for social media and marketing purposes.

  2.  Create marketing and communication plans including, but not limited to, social media posting schedules, online promotional campaigns, website updates and collaborations among all relevant stakeholders. 

  3. Identify areas in Pulse Climbing’s event schedules, resourcing methods, and planning processes in need of improvement, create action plans to address them, and advocate for their implementation where necessary.

  4. Prepare print and digital marketing materials in an adequate timeline relevant to the activity

  5. Ensure management teams and facility staff are made aware of the goals and objectives for each promotional material provided.

  6. Create a monthly marketing report that summarises all expenses, engagement, and statistics of growth.





Part B: Events and Community Coordinator 

Est. hours per week: 5 - 7.


The Community Coordinator portion of your role involves engaging the Pulse Climbing community in-gym and online to create and publicise events that bring people together. Collaborating with the management team and external businesses, you will play a crucial role in planning and organising climbing competitions, regular social nights, and other events, and ensuring their seamless execution.  


Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Assist with planning  and organising regular social events and community gatherings at Pulse Climbing facilities.

  2. Assist in the planning, pre-production and execution of major Pulse-wide events including bouldering competitions, social nights, and exhibition days.

  3. Oversee the creation and dissemination of event coordination documents including, but not limited to, overviews and run sheets among all relevant stakeholders. 

  4. Liaise with internal teams and external organisations and businesses to ensure seamless event execution.

  5. Coordinate targets from Group Outreach Monthly, with the guidance from managers.


Part C: Social Media Coordinator 

Est. hours per week: 2-3.


As a Social Media Coordinator, you’ll delegate content creation to the team of Social Creators that are focused on community growth and the promotion of our brand. You’ll oversee regular posting, assist in the creation of original photo and video content, help facilitate multi-channel marketing campaigns, and engage with our ever-growing social audience. You will help grow the Pulse Climbing brand with clear, consistent, community-focused social media communication and distribution. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Social Media Content Coordination:

  1. Delegate and supervise content output across all 4 accounts for weekly communications, including Boulder of the Week videos, PSA posts, gym events and other regular content.

  2. Collaborate with Social Creators, Facility Managers, Facility Staff, and the General Manager to develop, execute, and maintain a comprehensive social media strategy for Pulse Climbing.

  3. Ensure social creators are curating high-quality, visually appealing content for social media platforms.

  4. Schedule and publish regular posts, stories, and updates to engage and inform our audience in the event that an SMC is away.

  5. Monitor social media trends and recommend adjustments to the strategy according to changes.

  6. Provide consistent and clear communication to Social Creators, and check in regularly through face-to-face or online meetings for gym updates, social media suggestions and constructive feedback within the team.







Overall Key Responsibilities 

Community Engagement (Online):

  1. Encourage user-generated content and interactions among members and visitors to enhance the sense of belonging within the climbing community.

  2. Identify and collaborate with key influencers and partners to expand our reach and engagement. 

Community Engagement (In-house):

  1. Actively engage with the Pulse Climbing community in-gym to build rapport and foster strong relationships with climbers and staff alike.

  2. Promote an inclusive atmosphere and a diverse and welcoming environment by encouraging participation and collaboration, especially in the lead-up to events. 

Design and Multimedia:

  1. Utilise design, video, and photography skills to create visually appealing content for social media campaigns and promotional materials.

  2. Edit and enhance multimedia content to maintain brand consistency. 

  3. Carry out design work as needed.

  4. Liaise with the management team to ensure all printing collateral is consistently up to date, and that quantities of each item are readily available.


Marketing and Promotions Coordination

  1. Update website as requested.

  2. Develop and implement advertising campaigns with assistance from the management team.

  3. Support the social creators and maintain consistent communication.

  4. Organise and maintain marketing materials and assets.

  5. Establish partnerships with other brands and businesses, with a view to running effective collaborative marketing campaigns and leverage sponsorship for events.

  6. Develop relationships with local print and T.V. media to get climbing specific stories published.

  7. Send special news and offers to relevant segments of our community/email list.

Research and Reporting: 

  1. Stay current with industry best practices, competitor activities, and climbing trends to optimise social media strategies.

  2. Regularly analyse social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and provide data-driven insights.

  3. Deliver reports to the General Manager.

Other

  1. Carry out other tasks reasonably requested of you by your manager.
