About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking candidates to fulfill 2 roles to join their team on a contracting basis.

1 x Software Engineer and Network Technician

  • Initial contract from 22 June 2026 to 30 June 2027

  • Location: Williamstown NSW with remote work arrangement available for the suitable candidate

  • NV2 security clearance

An experienced Software Engineer and Network Technician is required to support ICT capabilities within a Defence operational environment. It focuses on sustainment, governance, assurance, and capability integration of 4SQN ICT systems, including Tactical Data Links and core mission systems.

The position supports both operational and project-based activities, ensuring ICT systems remain compliant, interoperable, and mission-ready. It involves close collaboration with Defence stakeholders, program offices, and industry partners to deliver and sustain critical capabilities across the capability lifecycle, including Prove, Test and Evaluate (PT&E) phases.

The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders at all levels, build strong working relationships, and act as a key point of contact for ICT operational support, engineering activities, and system governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key point of contact for operational ICT support, engaging with Defence stakeholders, NETTECHs, CCT personnel, and industry partners

  • Deliver ICT training and mentorship to support workforce capability development

  • Provide operational support and sustainment for the 4SQN ICT fleet, ensuring system availability and performance

  • Support governance, policy, and compliance activities aligned with CASG BMS and Defence requirements

  • Manage sustainment and PT&E activities for operational and trial ICT capabilities in collaboration with relevant SPOs

  • Coordinate vendor support and sustainment arrangements, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations

  • Manage fleet training, sustainment planning, and capability delivery for program-level ICT systems

  • Maintain control of cryptographic material and coordinate technical maintenance activities

  • Ensure system conformance, ATO, and compliance with MIL-STD and accreditation frameworks for ICT systems

  • Conduct Verification and Validation (V&V) and support system integration and interoperability activities

  • Coordinate defect management (RODUM) and develop user requirements to address capability gaps and enhancements

Essential Requirements

  • Current Australian Government NV2 Security Clearance

  • Experienced ICT professional with Network Technician and/or Software Engineering expertise, operating effectively in complex Defence environments

  • A minimum of 4 years of Defence environment experience is required for this position

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience

  • Strong knowledge of ICT sustainment, system assurance, governance, and life-cycle management, including accreditation and compliance frameworks

  • Demonstrated experience in V&V, system compliance (e.g., MIL-STD), and Authorities to Operate (ATO)

  • Experience supporting ICT sustainment, PT&E, system integration, and capability enhancement activities

  • Sound understanding of Defence governance and procurement frameworks (e.g., CASG BMS, ERP, NDS)

  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with technical teams, Stakeholders, and industry, applying a practical, risk-based approach
    Experience working with secure ICT systems and managing cryptographic materials

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and advisory outputs


1 x Project Configuration Control and Publications Development Manager

  • Initial contract from 18 Jun 2026 - 30 Sep 2026

  • Location: Onside, Newcastle NSW

  • NV2 security clearance (NV1 Min)

The Configuration Control and Publications Development Manager is responsible for coordinating Technical Data Controls, Configuration Management and for Providing expert advice on Technical Publications Development and Delivery.

The position is required to understand and adapt Configuration Controls, Data Management processes and Publications development, requiring an individual who is highly adaptable and forward leaning, with an aptitude for innovative, progressive thinking. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, with an understanding of change management being a desirable skill.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a Master Technical Data Index (MTDI)

  • Provide detailed data management, technical, and professional advice in relation to complex work in support of Technical publications development and delivery

  • Contribute to strategic level ILS planning to ensure the Strategic Partnership achieves the timely delivery of capability

  • Work with the Strategic Partner to ensure the technical data requirements and management frameworks for the whole of system lifecycle are identified, and solutions established to acquire and sustain the capability; and

  • Work within and maintain alignment to the AIR6500 series program through coordination with Engineering and Capability Integration leads

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in ADF/APS roles potentially within an aligned Capability Development or Program/Project Management area

  • Experience in a similar role in data management, preferably in Defence or Defence Industry

  • Knowledge of the Agile development and delivery methodology

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field that meet the requirements

  • Knowledge of S1000D international specification for technical publications

  • Strong communication skills

  • Process orientated with good attention to detail

  • Australian citizenship, NV1 security clearance and ITAR compliance
