Company Description HUNTER VALLEY CARE PTY. LIMITED is a hospital and health care provider based in Teralba, New South Wales, Australia. Joining the team offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of people in care.Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Cook role based in Toronto, NSW. The Cook will plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals and snacks that meet dietary requirements, including aged care and clinical nutrition guidelines, as directed. Daily tasks include food preparation, portioning, plating, and serving meals while maintaining high standards of taste, presentation, and food safety. The role involves following set menus and recipes, monitoring stock levels, rotating inventory, and assisting with ordering supplies. The Cook will ensure strict compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and follow all WHS and infection control procedures. The position also includes working cooperatively with care and nursing teams, responding to resident and patient dietary needs, and providing warm, respectful service during meal times.Qualifications Demonstrated experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in health care, aged care, or institutional catering settings.Sound knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and safe food handling practices; current Food Safety/Food Handling certificate preferred.Ability to plan and prepare balanced menus, including special diets (e.g., texture-modified, allergy-aware, cultural or religious requirements).Strong kitchen organization skills, including time management, multitasking, and maintaining cleanliness under peak service periods.Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work respectfully with colleagues, residents, patients, and visitors.Capacity to follow written procedures and recipes accurately and to adapt to changing dietary needs or last-minute requests.Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move kitchen items safely, and adhere to workplace health and safety requirements.Relevant vocational qualification in commercial cookery or equivalent experience is desirable; experience in Australian health or aged care standards is an advantage.Commitment to person-centered care, reliability in attendance and punctuality, and willingness to work scheduled shifts including weekends or public holidays as required.
