Your new role as Medical Records Clerk
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our medical record team. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily clerical procedures within the medical records service, including:
The delivery and collection of patient medical records to and from admissions, theatres, outpatient clinics and the wards, the scanning of inpatient episodes of care for audit, revenue and medicolegal, filing, answering phone calls and assisting with the day-to-day processes within the medical record department.
Efficient provision of patient medical records for admissions, outpatient visits, reviews, audits, and education.
Liaising with staff across all areas including front office and clinical departments as required to ensure the continuation of the Admission/Discharge cycle and the efficient provision and return of medical records for clinical coding.
Liaising with admin managers, front office staff, theatre staff, billing clerks and ward staff regarding missing or incomplete records.
About you (essential criteria):
Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
Minimum two years’ administrative experience working in a medical / healthcare environment.
Knowledge & experience with Terminal Digit Filing.
Knowledge of State and Federal Legislation on Privacy and Confidentiality.
High degree of computer literacy in desktop applications and hospital systems including WebPAS highly regarded.
Ability to prioritise competing demands with demonstrated organisational skills.
Reliable with good work ethic and attention to detail.
A team player with a positive attitude and an adaptable approach to problem solving and decision making.
Strong collaborative interpersonal skills with well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
Immunisation evidence and serology report in accordance with NSW Health.
Australian permanent resident status or equivalent work rights required.
Desirable attributes:
Certificate in Medical Terminology.
Previous experience within a similar role.
