ASR Recruitment is partnering with a large organisation looking for resilient, confident and compassionate Occupational Therapists to deliver holistic, evidence-based occupational therapy services across their residential and community aged care services in the Newcastle region. While this role is primarily based within residential aged care facilities, some travel will be required to support across community settings. You'll take an enablement, restorative and wellbeing-focused approach, helping older people optimise their quality of life, maintain independence, and re-engage with the activities that matter to them.

About the role

• Deliver individual and group programs focused on capacity building, restorative outcomes, healthy ageing, and quality of life
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and use specified data collection tools and outcome measures to record and demonstrate changes in function
• Develop and implement holistic therapy plans in consultation with consumers, carers and relevant stakeholders, reviewing them in line with internal and external frameworks
• Support the identification and management of consumers with chronic and complex care needs
• Work autonomously, including making clinical decisions without onsite supervision where appropriate
• Provide education, training and mentoring to the care team, ensuring delegated duties are performed safely and to standard
• Maintain accurate clinical records across multiple platforms and complete documentation in line with funding body, aged care legislation, and organisational requirements
• Ensure services are delivered in accordance with Aged Care Standards and uphold consumers' rights to dignity, respect and choice

Who we're looking for

• AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist
• Sound knowledge and practical experience working with older people from an enablement, restorative and wellbeing perspective
• A current unrestricted Australian driver's licence and a registered, comprehensively insured vehicle
• Current First Aid certificate, National Police Check, NDIS check and Australian work rights
• Willingness to register with Medicare Australia
• An understanding of case coordination and multidisciplinary teamwork and the resilience of working within an aging population
• A confident, self-motivated clinician able to work autonomously while contributing positively to team culture
• Capable of independent and resilient problem-solving and building strong clinical reasoning skills, while working effectively as part of a team
• A passion for or experience working with people living with dementia and their carers (desirable)
