McArthur is working with Estia Health, in search of a Care Director to join a strong dedicated team already at their 100 bed facility in Forster, NSW.

The Care Director is responsible for supporting the Residential Aged Care Manager with the management of the home specifically surrounding the provision of advanced clinical and holistic care of residents. The role is critical to ensuring the clinical performance of the home with a key focus on resident care planning, funding optimisation, quality assurance, continuous improvement and assessment of all aspects of clinical delivery at the home, to ensure that the safety and well being of residents and staff is maintained.

Key leadership and governance responsibilities:

  • Support the Residential Aged Care Manager to ensure compliance with legislation, accreditation standards, and clinical care policies.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and education to nursing and care staff.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives in resident care, ensuring structured handovers.
  • Measure, analyse and monitor clinical audit and clinical indicator results to support clinical staff to drive improvements in the delivery of care.
  • Ensure incidents and injuries are notified in a timely manner and support the Residential Aged Care Manager in all other aspects of Health & Safety and Injury Management in the home.
  • Ensure medication management and infection prevention control principles are maintained and are in line with current best practice guidelines, Estia Health policy and legislative frameworks.

Key clinical care responsibilities:

  • Lead the provision of clinical care and service delivery within the home including treatment and procedures, nursing services and assistance in obtaining health practitioner and specialised therapy services.
  • Lead the provision of daily living activities within the home in line with resident needs and preferences.
  • Engage internal and external support as required to ensure the best possible resident outcomes.
  • Promote a resident-centred culture which values, respects and treats all residents with compassion and dignity.
  • Ensure rights and responsibilities of residents are provided and concerns raised by residents or family members are addressed in a timely and coherent manner.
Qualifications and skills:
  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 3 years' nursing management experience at ward level or higher.
  • Commitment to quality and demonstrated knowledge of all facets of contemporary aged care including funding optimisation and accreditation standards.
  • Experience in an aged care environment/sector.
  • Proficient computer skills (including MS Office, Windows, electronic care planning systems, etc.).
