About Nova Dermatology

Nova Dermatology is a modern specialist dermatology practice located in Broadmeadow, Newcastle. Our team of experienced dermatologists and nursing professionals are committed to delivering exceptional patient care across medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to support our nursing team while developing specialist dermatology nursing skills in a collaborative, supportive and patient-focused environment.

The successful applicant will be a confident clinician with excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient outcomes. Experience in dermatology is advantageous but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.

About the Role

As the Registered Nurse, you will play an integral role in supporting our dermatologists, coordinating nursing activities and delivering high-quality patient care. You will contribute to both clinical and operational aspects of the practice and help maintain the highest standards of patient experience, safety and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assist dermatologists with a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures.

  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient assessment, education and care.

  • Deliver dermatological treatments under specialist supervision, including:

    • Phototherapy

    • Photodynamic therapy

    • Laser treatments

  • Assist with advanced medical dermatology treatments, including biologic therapies.

  • Monitor patient outcomes and ensure safe, evidence-based nursing care.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.

  • Provide patient education and support throughout their treatment journey.

Essential Criteria

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse registration with AHPRA.

  • Minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn new clinical skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, general practice, theatre nursing or other procedural specialties.

  • Previous experience in a private specialist practice.

  • Experience with laser treatments or aesthetic procedures.

  • Experience administering injectable therapies.

  • Experience with staff training, rostering or clinical coordination.

  • Interest in developing advanced dermatology nursing skills.
