Eating Disorder Dietitian

0.8 FTE position (Tues-Friday)

Position Summary 

We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with a passion for supporting clients with eating and feeding challenges, clinical eating disorders and general mental health conditions.

Myrtle Oak Clinic is a multidisciplinary private practice supporting people across the Central Coast and Newcastle. We are known for our work in eating disorder treatment, while continuing to grow our services to support a broader range of mental health concerns including anxiety, mood challenges, emotional wellbeing, and life transitions.

Our vision is to support people to reconnect with themselves, their values, and their everyday lives. This includes developing more peaceful relationships with food, body image, and health, alongside building confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

We work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, offering integrated psychological and dietetic care. Our approach recognises that mental health and nutrition are deeply connected, and we support clients across both areas in a collaborative and personalised way.

The Opportunity

If you are an experienced eating disorder dietitian, or a dietitian eager to learn, we would love to hear from you. The candidate must have the ability to engage and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with a diverse range of young people, adults and their families/carers. 

Our dietitians work alongside our own psychologists and also external psychologists in an interdisciplinary treatment model. On the job training, supervision, mentoring and resources are provided. We have a highly skilled and experienced administrative team who provide client care coordination and administrative support. 

This is an employed position that includes:

 Selection Criteria: 

  • Current membership with Dietitians Australia with Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status for Medicare registration. 

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to ongoing CPD in the area of Eating Disorders and mental health nutrition. 

  • A sound understanding of eating disorders and disordered eating, body image and related issues (including comorbidities) and their impact both on the individual and their families, friends, partners and other carers. 

  • Knowledgeable in HAES, Non-Diet and Intuitive Eating, Motivational Interviewing Skills, RAVES approaches. 

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team 

  • A valid Criminal Record Check, Working With Children Check, public liability and professional indemnity insurance. 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Familiarity with CBT-E and Maudsley Family Based Treatment for adolescent eating disorders and willingness to train further in these modalities.
