We are seeking a skilled Senior Civil Designer for a 12- to 18-month contract with a local government client in the Hunter Region.

The Role

In this role, you will take ownership of providing high-level engineering designs, comprehensive documentation services, and expert technical advice on a variety of complex design matters and standards. 

You will ensure that civil infrastructure projects are delivered with accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Your day-to-day work will focus on preparing precise designs for construction, with particular emphasis on roads, drainage, cycleways, and recreation facilities. 

Beyond drafting, you will review and assess complex designs prepared by both internal staff and external consultants, determine project quantities, and establish reliable cost estimates.

Collaboration is central to this position, so you will be expected to provide clear direction on design standards while maintaining productive relationships with all stakeholders.

About you:

You will need a tertiary qualification in Civil or Design Engineering, or at least 4 years of dedicated experience in civil design engineering. 

Experience working in a local government environment, or knowledge of NSW local government and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) design standards, will be highly regarded.
