LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB 

The Coordinator Capital Planning and Program leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for capital planning, financial strategy, program coordination and business improvement. Working closely with the Organisational Leadership Team, Manager Assets, Coordinators and subject matter experts, you will help deliver priorities from the Resourcing Strategy and Asset Management Plan, driving organisation-wide improvements to capital works planning and delivery.

In this role, you will lead a team of specialists across finance, budgeting, program planning and business improvement. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering a four-year, $430 million capital works program, while building a realistic and achievable one, four and 10-year forward works program aligned to available resources and the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP).

What you will do

  • Lead the Capital Governance Framework, supporting the development, prioritisation and delivery of capital projects to strengthen transparency, accountability and decision-making

  • Drive improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the capital works program, aligned with Council priorities and the LTFP

  • Provide strategic coordination and guidance to technical staff and subject matter experts delivering capital works

  • Lead and inspire the Capital Planning and Program Team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture

  • Develop resourcing tools to support effective workforce planning and program delivery

  • Work with Managers, Coordinators and teams to deliver improvement initiatives that strengthen the capital works program and asset framework

  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor performance and track KPIs for internal and external audiences

  • Identify and manage risks impacting financial sustainability and program delivery, working with senior leaders to ensure mitigation strategies are in place

  • Mentor and support team members, building capability through performance development and succession planning

You are a capable and people-focused leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring clarity, structure and energy, especially when leading change and improvement.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in architecture, construction, engineering, planning, project management, accounting or a related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Experience managing the financial performance of projects or programs

  • Strong experience developing complex, multidisciplinary programs, including feasibility, budgeting, scheduling, stakeholder engagement and risk management

  • The ability to analyse project objectives, balance competing priorities and manage stakeholder expectations

  • Proven capability managing multiple projects and delivering results in a dynamic environment

  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships while maintaining objectivity

  • Experience planning and coordinating project or program delivery
