Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Field Safety & Compliance Officer to join our team.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the WHS Manager, this is a predominantly field-based role responsible for monitoring, auditing and improving safety and operational compliance across our asphalt paving, profiling and road maintenance operations.

The successful applicant will spend the majority of their time on project sites, working alongside operational crews to verify compliance, identify improvement opportunities and ensure critical controls are consistently implemented.

This position is primarily night-shift based and will require flexibility to work weekends and occasional day shifts as operational requirements dictate.

A fully maintained company vehicle, mobile phone and laptop will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and compliance audits across asphalt paving, profiling and road maintenance projects.

• Monitor compliance with Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS), Traffic Control Plans and permit requirements.

• Verify compliance with Road Occupancy Licence (ROL) conditions.

• Monitor Workers on Foot controls and mobile plant interaction management.

• Verify exclusion zones, positive communication processes and critical risk controls.

• Complete safety observations, audits and compliance reports.

• Capture photographic and video evidence of site activities and compliance outcomes.

• Assist supervisors and crews in understanding and meeting company and client requirements.

• Identify non-conformances and support corrective action implementation.

• Participate in incident investigations and follow-up activities as required.

• Promote a positive safety culture through coaching and engagement with operational teams.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Essential

• Experience within civil construction, road construction, asphalt, traffic management or a similar operational environment.

• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety principles.

• Ability to work independently across multiple project locations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong attention to detail and reporting capability.

• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

• Competent computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

• Traffic Control qualifications.

• Experience interpreting Traffic Guidance Schemes and Traffic Control Plans.

• Experience conducting audits, inspections or compliance assessments.

• Asphalt or road construction industry experience.

• Incident investigation experience.
