Edgeworth Animal Medical Centre is looking for a dedicated, friendly and professional Veterinary Receptionist / Customer Service Representative Team Member to join our team.
This position would suit someone with a naturally warm, bubbly and approachable personality who enjoys helping people and can remain calm, kind and organised in a busy customer service environment. Previous customer service experience is essential, but veterinary-specific training will be provided.
The role is 3-4 days per week, with shifts 8:00am–6:00pm. Availability across these hours is required. Availability for Saturday mornings is also required as part of a rotating weekend roster.
We are a privately owned small animal veterinary practice located in Edgeworth, Newcastle NSW. Our team cares for a wide range of patients, including dogs and cats, as well as avian and exotic species. This creates the opportunity to work in an interesting and rewarding environment with some more unusual patients alongside our regular small animal caseload.

As part of our Veterinary Receptionist team, you will be the face of the clinic and play a vital an important role in creating a positive first and last impression for our clients and their pets.
This is a 100% reception and customer service role. You will need to be able to build rapport with people and their pets, communicate clearly, manage competing priorities and maintain a calm and positive outlook, even during busy or emotionally challenging moments.
Responsibilities include:
Providing excellent client care and showing empathy for the needs of our clients and their pets.
Professionally and promptly greeting clients and patients.
Answering and managing busy phone lines.
Scheduling appointments and prioritising workflows.
Taking payments and processing client transactions.
Assisting with daily till, banking and mail procedures.
Lodging Pet insurance claims.
Assisting clients with third-party finance options such as VetPay.
Reading, sorting and responding to email correspondence from clients and other industry stakeholders
Maintaining a clean, tidy and welcoming reception area and waiting room.
Managing a busy waiting room in a calm and professional manner.
Communicating wait times and helping clients and patients feel supported.
Assisting with product sales and general client enquiries.
Handling difficult or upset clients with compassion and professionalism.
Supporting the veterinary and nursing team through accurate communication and administration.
Previous customer service experience is essential. Veterinary experience is helpful, but not required.
