About the Role

We are seeking a diligent and motivated Payroll Officer to oversee payroll processing while supporting key finance functions for Total Fire Solutions. This role is primarily focused on payroll and will also provide support across accounts receivable and accounts payable activities. You will play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery, while contributing to the efficiency of the broader finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end to end payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies

  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee details, awards, leave balances and entitlements

  • Respond to payroll related enquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Assist with payroll reporting requirements, including superannuation, tax obligations and audits

  • Support accounts receivable tasks, including processing transactions, issuing credit notes and managing customer accounts

  • Monitor overdue accounts and assist with collections and payment follow up

  • Provide support across accounts payable functions as required

  • Assist with bank and ledger reconciliations

  • Support month end and year end financial processes

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve financial queries efficiently


Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll processing is essential

  • Experience using payroll and accounting systems such as Xero, HR3 or Employment Hero

  • Previous experience in accounts or finance roles, ideally within a small to medium enterprise

  • Sound understanding of payroll compliance requirements, awards and entitlements

  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions

  • Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline are desirable but not required

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

  • High attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills
